Joint security forces supported by People’s Mobilization militias and tribal fighters have succeeded in liberating a number of areas in southern Ramadi and have reached some parts of Anbar University.
Security forces and units of the ‘Golden Division’ have killed 6 would-be suicide bombers in one of the university’s buildings. Anbar Police sources are reporting that the ISIL gunmen are withdrawing.
Meanwhile, security force are now 20 km away from the areas separating the forces holding the city’s perimeter from the gunmen holding parts of the Bu-Farraj, eastern Husayba, and surrounding areas. Security forces and tribal fighters are also now controlling the areas across the Euphrates from Ramadi city.
Iraqi gun ships and coalition warplanes have launched a number of sorties against targets in separate areas of Ramadi, especially in the city’s western sector.

In Fallujah, 7 residents are reported killed and 5 wounded by the ongoing random bombardment exchanges between security forces along the city’s perimeter and the ISIL gunmen that have been holding the city for more than one year.
